As you may have noticed I have been working on a new YA Murder on Mars. This story is set in New Orleans, LA a place where I had spent a few days with some amazing friends. It was August of 2008, yes August!! One thing about traveling is that I never remember what the weather was like, only the highlights from my trips and there were a lot of them. But, before we knew it we were back on the plane headed home.
I really enjoy history, and I make it a point to include this in the places I travel to and I'm always amazed at what I find. So I dragged my friends with me to a few sites that I had to see before we left. It was a good thing that I had a friend who lived in New Orleans at the time and was able to show us around town and when not-- we took in some tours. I was a little disappointed in the tours that were offered, but not so much that it would keep me from returning to the city.
In my paranormal Murder on Mars, there is one thing I would like to share first. The title. It does sound like it would take place on Mars, but it doesn't. The reason why I chose this is because I want my readers to be prepared for the unexpected. As indicated in the title there is a murder and it does take place on a street named Mars. It's where the story begins and the reason behind bringing Ava Lopez to New Orleans.
There is one scene where Ava arrives at the airport and she finds a band playing near the taxi and shuttle area. This actually happened to us, it was amazing and such a welcome. We were taking the escalator down and we could hear music playing. They were really good, I only wish I got their name, I would have loved to have shared it with you.
