Guest Post: Author Lindsay Paige

I would like to welcome Author Lindsay Paige to my blog today. She is a wonderful author who is a voice for her generation.

Are you a teen? Do you love to write? Do you struggle with handling school, a social life, and writing?

Today, I'm going to share how I deal with the things I mentioned above. I probably shouldn't say this, but writing comes first for me. If I have to choose between going out with friends or turning in a project on time and writing because the light bulb just went off, I'm going to choose writing. Each and every time.

However, especially with my anxiety, I need to balance my life. I do make time for friends, me-time, school, and other hobbies. I have to. If I don't, then I end up being one stressed, on-the--edge-of-a-panic-attack person. My life is a balancing act.

I have to balance my emotions to ensure that I don't over think, over analyze, or get too emotional. I have to balance my work and school and writing. I have to balance my me-time and my social life.

That is the main technique for handling being a full-time writer, full-time student, and part-time sub shop attendant. It works for me. Mainly because if I want to do something bad enough (or know that something really needs to be done), I find the time to do it.

Sweetness (Bold as Love #1)
Emily wished she was invisible. But after moving to a new town with her dad, a charming boy makes it impossible for her to disappear. Despite her feelings of unworthiness, Emily soon finds herself drawn to the safety of Jake's world.

Good looking and the star of the hockey team, Jake has a lot going for him. What most people don't see is the difficult life he has at home. When quiet Emily steals his heart, Jake vows to help her discover she is worthy of love.

Just when the two of them realize the sweetness of their relationship, they are put to the test. Only together can they overcome their haunted pasts to fight for a future together.

I'm Yours (Bold as Love #2)
After the incident with Claire, Emily encounters more problems. Conrad is back with explanations and hope. Emily wants to give him a chance to explain himself. She can't help but wonder why he left. However, Jake isn't comfortable with Emily going out to eat with an old lover.

Will things be too much for Emily to handle? Will Emily do the one thing she knows best and withdraw? Will Emily and Jake's love for one another keep them from shattering?

Whatever it Takes (Bold as Love #3)
Their first year of college isn’t what they expected. Emily is still struggling with the loss of her baby, while Jake seems to have no trouble with it at all. Emily is so conflicted about how to deal with the miscarriage. On top of that, she’s having nightmares.

Can Jake help his Sweetness? Will she allow him? Their relationship is suffering and Jake is determined to do whatever Emily asks of him. But when Emily makes a suggestion that she feels will help with her grief, could it tear the couple apart forever?

From MM: I'd like to give a big thanks to Lindsay for stopping by my blog today and sharing her books. Whatever it Takes, is the newest edition to this wonderful series and will be released in June 2012.

Mishap and Retribution

Mishap & Retribution is just about ready! I took a little longer working on this story because I wanted to make sure that I did it justice. My editor Kim Azmi and I are going through the proof reading stage, I wanted to have this ready before I leave for Boston, MA this Sunday but it doesn't look like that will be possible. I will be sure to add the first chapter some time this week as a preview!

At the Dawn of Time a curse against Man was made and only Death will satisfy it.

The year is 2045 and twins Grasiella and Tatiana who are Cinerian, Fae and Human must choose a side and may find themselves on different sides of an ancient war.
With Tatiana trapped in the Fae realm and learning what life has been like, she has found herself bonding with the Fae. Grasiella seeking the whereabouts of her twin has come to a crossroads of her own.
Separated and neither knowing the fate of the other, each make their way to an uncertain future.
Death has swept across the Hawaiian Islands and the cost of peace may be too high.

What is a name?

A show that I'm sure to watch every week is Who Do You Think You Are? Its about tracing your family roots and finding out where you come from. PBS also has Finding your Roots which is really rich in history and detail. So after watching these shows I decided to trace my grandmothers side because there is a lot of mystery surrounding that side of the family. There were stories that my great grandmother was French Basque and that she and her sister were left in America with an adoptive family while the rest of the family returned home to France.

Turned out that wasn't so at all, my great grandmother was born in 1901 in a mining town in Arizona and her mother, Soledad Abencerraje was Mexican- not French at all.

When I was deciding on the surname for twins Grasiella and Tatiana for my book Mishap & Mayhem, I chose the name Najera for many reasons, first it belonged to one of my grandparents and I liked that the name was different and unique.

As I started working on my next story 'Murder on Mars' and as I was choosing the names, I decided to go with Lopez for the main character. Lopez is the name of another one of my grandparents who left Lugo, Spain and traveled to America on his own. Instead of going through Ellis Island he entered the U.S via Mexico on Nov 29, 1909 (my grandmother use to say he traveled via Banana boat!) What made him decide to leave Spain? His entry papers say that he was visiting a relative, that he had twenty dollars on him and listed his father as his next of kin. I may never know why he left everything behind, but what I do know is that he met and married Soledad's daughter and they had two children one of them my grandmother, until his murder while he was on his way to a bank in El Paso, TX. I suppose the only way I will learn why he left Lugo, Spain is to travel there my self and see what I can find. I've been to Spain- Madrid and Barcelona, but I never thought to visit Lugo, I don't know why not, but now I have a really good reason to.
